Kinma provides a curriculum designed to encourage each child to discover full academic, physical and social potential, encouraging children to become flexible thinkers and independent, self-directed learners.
Established in 1972, as a non-denominational, co-educational, non-profit Primary and Pre-School, Kinma has offered parents and children an innovative approach to education for 40 years.
Graduates have gone on to have a variety of successful careers and parents and children have formed life long friendships.
Kinma's education programme is based on an understanding of child development and caters equally for all aspects of development; social, emotional and academic.
It is our aim to foster the development of children to be independent, self-motivated learners and socially responsible members of the community.
Central to Kinma's approach is our Core and Guiding principles, our unique learning program, time for creative free play integrated daily into our curriculum, assessment rather than testing and building healthy strong relationships.
Kinma is more than a school; children, teachers and parents work together to create an active and dynamic educational community, in which all are partners in the process.
Kinma is managed by parents and teachers via a school Board. All parents are entitled to become members of the Kinma Board.
Kinma has a strong transition programme; it is our aim to make each transition gentle and supportive of both the children and their families' very individual needs, from playgroup to preschool, from preschool to primary and from primary to high school.
At Kinma there is a very close teacher/child relationship. The informal and friendly environment encourages personal expression, as well as stimulating respect for and understanding of the individuality of others.
It is basic to Kinma’s philosophy and day to day operation that home and school environment are compatible, and that parents are aware of and involved in their child’s education.
