The importance of play in our curriculum

Play is predominant in the early years at Kinma. It is seen as a leading factor in the child's development. Central to the success of play is the child's self-control.

From play, children learn how to behave in social situations that are acceptable. Since play is child-centred and directed, the children learn self-discipline and self-motivation.

More than any other skill, the building of genuine relationships with others - those with similar and dissimilar values - is vital for our children.

Communication, incorporating social justice, inter-cultural understanding and democratic process, are at the heart of this process. At Kinma we immerse our students in the creation of a democratic based community.
