Friendship Seed goes to Newtown Festival

OnSunday 11th November, a group from Kinma's Friendship Seed project descended on the Newtown Festival in Camperdown Memorial Rest Park, set up a blanket and basket of goodies and started making bands. Friendship Seed update

A little update on the friendship seed project... there was amazing energy at the last gathering at school in September. A highlight was sharing the 200 bands made by Alexander School around the corner - who have taken on the project in a school wide way! Further, we received some packs from friends in Germany and Holland which have now been added to the big band. The band is now present in all 3 primary classes and we are hoping to likewise have a band growing in the pre-school. Parents and children with energy to burn - what a treat it was with band making, talk of the giant band growing and growing. Sculpture by the Sea 2013? It's felt that with a little push from all of us, we could be in a position to enter the band for the 2013 Sculpture by the Sea Sculpture exhibition. This is one year ahead of our original plan! Friendship Seed at Ectopia

What a wonderful energy the Kinma group brought to the ecotopia conference in Randwick! A highlight was meeting Costa - the gardening guru some of you may know from his tv program, ABC's Gardening Australia. He will be visiting Kinma soon and can't quite believe a school such as ours exists. The children showed many teachers how to make bands and connected us with schools around Australia. There are even two people taking bands to Afghanistan and Indonesia! Many people, on hearing the children's stories, expressed a wish to have been able to grow and learn in such surrounds.
