Getting Started

There are different ways to get involved in this project.

Firstly, you can make friendship bands for others. You can make them for old friends, for new people you meet or for those whom you think may be having a tough time. A band may cheer people up or let them know that someone is thinking of them.

Secondly, you, your class or group could send a sample band onto other schools to extend friendship. The school could be in a different part of your own country or in another country of the world. You could also make them aware of the friendship seed project.

Lastly, you could consider making some friendship bands to be joined up to the longest friendship band ever made.

We now have an instructions page for a 'how to' of making friendship bands.

You can start small – make a single band. If you feel enthused, you could decide to create a batch of any size.

We are keen to represent each nation on earth so we ask that you fill in a Friendship Seed Story Form (below) with each batch sent. We will keep a record of which nations are represented. Please complete the form in any language but please indicate the language so that we can translate it into English, the main language of this site.  We aim to include you or your school/group in the book that we will make with the band. Each one of your stories is so special – each will be one important link in the band.

Please note - If your school or group does not have funds to buy materials to make the bands or funds to send the bands, we may be able to support. Send an email to friendshipseed@kinma.nsw.edu.au or to the mail address above.

Please send a copy by email if you are online.  We will then know that your bands are on their way. Also send one inside every package of bands as it would be very disappointing if we didn't know who made the friendship bands which we receive.
