STAFF/STUDENT RELATIONSHIPS
At Kinma there is a very close teacher/child relationship. The informal and friendly environment encourages personal expression, as well as stimulating respect for and understanding of the individuality of others.
Children spend a major part of each day with the teacher who is responsible for developing the educational programme for their group. Children are expected to come inside the buildings when "in-time" is called by the staff. Children work in small groups for the development of their basic skills and concepts. Teachers also provide a range of activities for children to choose from for independent work. Kinma's programmes encourage children to develop a love of learning and the ability to learn independently. Learning experiences provide for children to develop the habits of responsibility and self-direction. At Kinma we avoid evaluation that implies comparison of one child with another.
Rules
There are rules at Kinma. The children and teachers meet together to discuss and establish rules. The rules consist of common sense, social and safely rules which help to keep Kinma a happy place. Basic to the happy environment of Kinma is a respect for others, an appreciation of difference and an emphasis on cooperation. Children are encouraged to develop pride in their classroom and the school grounds.
Behaviour which is threatening to the welfare and/or safety of other children is not acceptable at Kinma. Such behaviour is grounds for expulsion.
Continued enrolment depends on the child's adjusting satisfactorily to the school's educational programme and to the parents' accepting the conditions that a school such as ours must impose.
Conclusion
For Kinma School to continue to operate as a happy and cooperative place, parents must be aware of the minimum involvement on which a school such as ours depends.
All parents are invited to read the Memorandum and Articles of Association of Kinma Limited. This is the legal framework in which the school operates. A copy of this is kept in the school office for you to borrow.
